SEPANG, Aug 20 (Bernama) — A total of 25 media personnel left for Jeddah early today to cover this year’s haj.
Tabung Haji Corporate Communications general manager Zuhani Ahmad said the personnel, who boarded the Qatar Airways QR847 at 3 am, would be in the holy land for about 53 days.
“After staying in Jeddah, they will be brought to Madinah while waiting for the first Malaysian pilgrims to arrive on Aug 27,” he said when met before the departure of the media personnel at the KL International Airport (KLIA) here Wednesday.
He said all the media personnel had been give three vaccinations for pneumococcal, meningitis and influenza as a precaution against the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection.

This year 23,220 pilgrims from Malaysia will perform the haj with the first flight scheduled to arrive on Aug 27 with 450 pilgrims.
