FIFA slaps 9-game, 4-month ban and fine on Suarez for biting opponent

RIO DE JANEIRO: FIFA has banned Uruguay striker Luis Suarez for nine international games on top of a four-month suspension on all football activities for biting an opponent at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Suarez will miss the rest of the tournament and will not be able to represent his club Liverpool FC until the end of October this year.

The ban covers the next nine international games where Suarez can potentially appear for Uruguay, and will rule him out of next year’s Copa America.

FIFA also fined Suarez 100,000 Swiss francs (RM340,000).
