Far from the gleaming Petronas Twin Towers, life in the most interior of Sabah and Sarawak is like “living in a time-lapsed world”.
Beyond the lack of amenities like electricity and potable water, NGO Lightup Borneo said that rural communities also live an “incommunicado existence”, with their plights receiving little media attention.
The scant media attention means that those in urban areas, especially in Peninsular Malaysia, are equally in the dark about their fellow Malaysians in East Malaysia.
It is with this in mind that Lightup Borneo is hosting the ‘Yang Lain-lain’ roadshow – a four-stop roadshow to bring life in Borneo’ interior to the hustle and bustle of the peninsula’s cities.
