CYBERJAYA, Sept 18 (Bernama) — The New Entrepreneurs Foundation (myNEF) is on the lookout for 20 talented independent comic talents to undergo its specialised three-month accelerator programme, ComicXcel, beginning December.
“We know there are a lot of talents out there, but the issue is that they are not fully polished.
“We want to actually pull out the talents in the industry and guide them to be able to optimise their potential in the market,” Chairman Ashran Ghazi told Bernama on the sidelines of the Gabungan Rakan Entrepreneur Aspirasi Terhebat (GREAT 2014) event here.
ComicXcel, a platform to establish the career of independent local comic talents, was launched by Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah yesterday, and is now open for registration through its website www.mynef.com.
The accelerator programme is targeted at talents and companies wishing to start a business in the creative content industry.
Under ComicXcel, participants undergo an intensive programme with their creative work given some exposure.
myNEF has partnered Degwet Media Sdn Dhd, an online comic community platform, to assist in publishing works into a comic compilation.
Ashran said participants go through a two-week pre-selection process before the shortlisting process.
“We recommend them to start with ComicXcel first.
“Start with comics, get the traction up, and then we will see whether your works can be in television, animation or other type of spinoff that you might not have realised,” he said.
myNEF is a not-for-profit organisation established by technology industry players in partnership with the government, and supports the development of the local information communications technology and creative industry through various strategic programmes.
