KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) — The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) has appointed four new members of commission and retained four others, including its Chairman, Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob, for the second term.
Other reappointed for the second term are International Trade and Industry Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Perdana University Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Sothi Rachagan, and Malaysian Bar Council former president Ragunath Kesavan.
Economic Planning Unit Director-General Datuk Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff continues serving her first term as member of the commission this year, MyCC said in a statement Wednesday.
The newly appointed members of commission are Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Azmi Lateh, Corporate Legal Consultant Datuk Ahmad Hisham Kamaruddin; Economist and Corporate Consultant Datuk Dr Gan Khuan Poh, and Malaysian Institute of Economic Research Executive Director Dr Zakariah Abdul Rashid.
Members of MyCC are appointed by the prime minister on the advice of the domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism minister in accordance with the Competition Commission Act 2010.
Each member of commission serves for three years and may be reappointed for up to two consecutive terms.
