Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the figure was very encouraging for a small state like Melaka and was also a significant improvement compared to the RM1.49 billion for 27 projects last year.
“The investments are also among the highest in terms of inward investments ever recorded in Melaka for the past 20 years.
“The newly approved projects are expected to generate 5,035 employment opportunities in Melaka,” he said in a statement Thursday.
Idris said domestic investments contributed around 60 per cent of the total approved investments.
He said the manufacture of transport equipment and electric and electronic products are two top sectors contributing to the investments.
