Director of Business Services and Building Materials Section Ong Yew Chee said MATRADE’s participation in the Canton fair would further promote Malaysia’s exports to China and the world.
Products to be showcased at the Malaysia pavilion include healthcare products, household items and processed food products.
More than 200 individual business meetings have been scheduled between Malaysian exhibitors and potential Chinese importers during the event.
Guangdong is an important province between Malaysia-China bilateral trade and accounted for about 25 per cent of Malaysia’s trade with China.
“In 2013, Malaysia was Guangdong’s 6th largest trading partner, 5th largest export destination and 5th largest source of imports,” he added.
Ong described the participation of Malaysian companies in the Canton Fair as one of the efforts taken by MATRADE to strive towards achieving the
Malaysia-China US$ 160 billion trade target by 2017.
