In a statement today, Matrade said sales generated in Dammam and Dubai were worth RM700 million and RM300 million respectively and offered potential business opportunities for maritime companies.
“Among the potential fields indentified are shipbuilding, ship repairing, ship design, ship charter and equipment supply as well as fabrication of oil and gas facilities,” it said.
Among the 15 Malaysian companies that participated in the SMM were Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd, Hitech Powerhouse Asia Sdn Bhd, Gimhwak Shipyard Sdn Bhd and Neptune Asia Marine Sdn Bhd.
The SMM was in conjunction with the Seatrade Middle East Maritime 2014 that established a strong position among maritime players to develop business opportunities for a wider range of maritime services and products.
