KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) — Boeing Commercial Airplanes set a record for the most commercial airplanes delivered in a single year at 723 units in 2014.

It broke the company’s record for a second consecutive year.

In a statement, Boeing said it booked 1,432 net orders with a value of US$ 232.7 billion at list prices, while breaking the previous all-time high set in 2007, with unfilled commercial orders standing at 5,789 at the end of the year.

It was also Boeing’s new all-time high.

From 1,432 net commercial orders, Boeing said, the Next-Generation 737 and 737 MAX led the way with 1,104 orders, followed by the 777 and 777X with 283 orders.

Boeing continues to bring new products and services to the market, including the launch of the 737 MAX 200 in September, a variant based on the successful 737 MAX 8, which could accommodate up to 200 seats.

This is alongside increasing revenue potential and providing customers up to 20 per cent better fuel efficiency.

“In the face of fierce competition, we had a strong year. In 2015 we will remain focused on meeting customer commitments, and preparing for key milestones in our development programs.

“These include the start of assembly of the first 737 MAX and firm configuration for the 777X,” said President and Chief Executive Officer, Ray Conner.
