Business : AMU To Train 10,000 China Students In Entrepreneurship

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) — Asiamet Executive Education Centre Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Asia Metropolitan University (AMU), will bring 10,000 students from China for industry training programmes at the AMU.

The scheme, organised by the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), is a joint venture between Asiamet and Big Benefit Q (BBQ) Global Connection, a Chinese organisation for public benefit and sustainable business development.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the scheme was signed by Asiamet Executive Chairman Siva Kumar Jeyapalan and BBQ founder Jason Lin Yaoxian at Menara Matrade here Tuesday.

Lin said this is the first kind of training cooperation to train young Chinese to be better equipped entrepreneurs when they return to China.

“Even though many of them are already graduates in business, accounting, finance and other things, they need a real environment which is not only global but practical for them to benefit from the training,” he said in his speech before the MoU signing.

MATRADE Deputy Chief Executive Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud said the deal will contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s exports of education services to China.

Asiamet Deputy Chief Executive Officer Datuk Jayles Yeoh explained that the 10,000 Chinese students would be trained in franchising, retailing and entrepreneurship services at AMU.

The first group of 500 students is expected to arrive at the university in March 2015 for a period of one year, he added.
