Ahmad Jauhari Yahya KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) — The contract of Ahmad Jauhari Yahya as managing director/group chief executive officer (CEO) of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been extended for a year from Sept 20, 2014 to Sept 19, 2015.
MAS announced this in a statement to Bursa Malaysia today.
Ahmad Jauhari’s three-year contract is slated to expire this month.
It was reported before that Ahmad Jauhari would continue to lead the existing MAS entity until July 1, 2015 to smoothen the transition from the old entity to the new restructured MAS entity.
It seems he got an extra two months with the extension of his contract.
It was reported before that MAS’ major shareholder, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, was eyeing potential candidates from the global aviation industry as well as local talent to become the new CEO of MAS.
The new CEO who will replace Ahmad Jauhari will be announced by year-end, the report said.
Under the 12-point plan, a new company (NewCo) will be formed by July 2015 to house the new MAS, migration of the right-sized workforce and work practices as well as contracts into the NewCo.
