A group of 13 families are protesting against the demolition of their homes in Sg Nyior, Butterworth, holding a sit-down protest in front of the Penang administrative office on level 3 of Komtar.

Komtar security guards have locked the entrance to the offices.

Spokesperson for the group Samuel Walter said that the families have been asked to move out by this Friday, although they have not been compensated adequately.

Walter said the group is in Komtar today to meet with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also their member of Parliament.

He added that the residents had voted for Lim but he has not met them over the issue.
