BEAUFORT, Jan 22 (Bernama) — Beaufort District Police chief DSP Mustaffa Maarof Mustaffa has urged residents in areas affected by the flood to move out quickly when ordered by the authorities to do so.
He said the refusal of residents to evacuate much earlier and taking a risk to move out at the last minute made it difficult for the authorities to help them.
“Police order them to move out early based on information from the Meteorological Department,” he said here today.
He said all government agencies were now helping residents who were affected by the floods in the districts of Beaufort and Membakut.
