Eddie Ng Hak-kim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin YassinPUTRAJAYA, Jan 7 (Bernama) — Hong Kong’s Secretary for Education (SED) Eddie Ng Hak-kim called on Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Putrajaya, here Wednesday.
The 30-minute meeting between Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, and Ng at the Education Ministry here, was aimed at strengthening academic ties.
The visiting Ng was accompanied by six officials, including Hong Kong Economic Trade Office (HKETO) director Fong Ngai and Education Bureau Assistant Secretary (Higher Education).
According to a press release published on the Hong Kong government website yesterday, Ng’s two-day visit to Malaysia starting today was aimed at strengthening academic ties.
While in Malaysia, Ng is scheduled to meet senior education officials of Malaysia on issues of mutual concern, particularly the possibility of enhancing education cooperation between Hong Kong and Malaysia.
According to the statement, he would also meet with presidents and vice-presidents of major higher learning institutions in Malaysia to exchange views on academic collaboration and student exchanges between the higher education sectors of both.
