The deputy prime minister, accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin arrived at the hotel lobby about 2.30pm and met with the 100 delegates before leaving 10 minutes later.
The youth delegation which arrived in Malaysia four days ago is on a Malaysia-China Youth Exchange Programme 2014 organised by the youth and sports ministry.
They will be here for a week to reciprocate an earlier visit by a 100-youth Malaysian delegation to China in May this year, to commemorate the good relations enjoyed by both countries.
Yang Sang, who heads the Chinese delegation, said as early as the 15th century, China enjoyed a close relationship with Malaysia, and the people of China loved Malaysia and wanted to know more about the country.
“Most of the participants in this trip are first-timers (to Malaysia) and this is an excellent opportunity for them to know Malaysia…just four days here and we have received very good hospitality,” he noted.
The delegation is expected to have several cultural, political and economic programmes here before leaving for Singapore on Friday.
