Putrajaya blaming the DAP-led Penang state government for contributing to Malaysia’s fall in the Press Freedom Index is to deny its role in the slide.
Reporters without Borders or Reporters Sans Frontiers (RSF) warned that ratings could even worsen in the next poll as the government is continuing to wield its powers on the media.
Information, Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek had rained criticism on DAP today after one of its MPs complained about the country's poor Press Freedom Index ranking. Malaysia is ranked 147 out of 180 countries.
