PUTRAJAYA, Sept 22 (Bernama) — Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed said all parties must accept Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s choice for Selangor Menteri Besar to avoid a prolonged political crisis.
Should the Selangor State Legislative Assembly propose and pass a ‘motion of no confidence’ against the new menteri besar, the political dilemma in the state would remain a deadlock, he said.
He said this to the media after launching a mixed development project “Shapadu Putrajaya Haven” here Monday.
The swearing in of the new Selangor menteri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will be held tomorrow at Istana Alam Shah, Klang.
The Sultan’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani had earlier said that the name of the new menteri besar would be announced today.
