Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said today the polling centre would be open from 8 am to 3 pm.
The polling would be observed by the agents of the candidates contesting the by-election, he said in a media statement.
“Academicians and NGO representatives appointed by the EC are allowed to be observers during the polling with the permission of the police,” he added.
He said the ballots would only be counted on polling day on Sept 25 and that they would be kept in a safe place, such as in the police lockup, until then.
Abdul Ghani said the 2013 electoral rolls, along with the supplementary electoral rolls for the first quarters of 2014 updated as at Aug 20, would be used for the by-election.
The by-election is a three-cornered contest among Mat Razi Mat Ail (rpt) Ail of the BN, Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim of PAS and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
It is being held following the death of the three-term assemblyman, Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar of the BN, on Aug 20.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat in the general election held last year with a majority of 1,736 votes, beating Saharun Ibrahim of PKR and Izat Bukhary.
PKR has allowed PAS to contest its seat in this by-election.
