The franchisors are from various sectors, including the lifestyle and creative industries.
Their participation is aimed at promoting Malaysian franchises and leveraging on the success of the 14 Malaysia franchisors in China at present.
“It will provide not only a platform for Malaysian franchisors to spread their brands and concepts, but also a place for them to seek out business opportunities,” said Matrade’s Director of Building Materials and Business Services Section, Ong Yew Chee in a statement today.
The number of franchised outlets in China is likely to reach 800,000 over the next five to 10 years, creating more than 10 million jobs.
“This provides an opportunity for Malaysian companies to expand their brands and concepts in China,” said Ong.
China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner since 2009. Malaysia has for the past three years been China’s largest trading partner in Asean.
