General : Sarawak Government’s Suggestion On People’s Housing Projects Noted – Minister

KUCHING, July 9 (Bernama) — The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry has taken note of the Sarawak government’s suggestion for its views on the location of every people’s housing project in the state, to be sought prior to implementation.

Its minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the suggestion was relevant, considering Sarawak’s geographical position.

He said the matter was expressed to him during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

“I will forward to the 1Malaysia People’s Housing (PR1MA) and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) in the National Housing Council meeting, that they engage with the state government before finalising the locations of low cost and affordable housing projects,” he said.

He said this at a media conference during a gathering and breaking of fast at the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station in Jalan Sultan Tengah Tuesday night.

On his meeting with Adenan, he said the state government had expressed its wish for more people’s housing projects.

“Next year, about 2,000 people’s housing projects will be implemented. I will convey the state government’s request to the prime minister for a special allocation for the purpose,” he said.

Abdul Rahman said 1,500 units of houses would be built in eight locations throughout the state, in addition to other ongoing projects.
