Johor Criminal Investigation Department head Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the suspects, aged between 26 and 45, were arrested after the businessman’s family lodged a missing person report on him.
He said the businessman was alleged seen for the last time when he got into a car belonging to a man from Polo Park, Taman Iskandar here at about 2.30 am last July 4 to an unknown destination.
“When the businessman failed to return home, family members lodged a report at the Johor Baharu Selatan police station at about 1.25 pm the same day,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the car was later found in Nusajaya.
Following the arrest of the suspects, police also seized a car, belonging to one of them, in Tampoi after a credit card belonging to the businessman was found in it, he added.
He said police were also investigating if the case was linked to the discovery of a human body, with 90 per cent burns, in an oil palm plantation near Batu Pahat the same day.
The police are waiting for the results of the DNA test on the body for further action, he added.
