Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery CheekPUTRAJAYA, Aug 25 (Bernama) — TV Nusantara, a television channel born out of the cooperation of countries in the region, will soon become a reality, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
He said the channel would not only share news but also culture through drama, film and entertainment.
“There are two or three complicated matters such as language, because we share content but the language will be in Bahasa Malaysia or Indonesia,” he told reporters after the launch of ‘Kod QR Buku Kuiz Mega: Penguasaan Lengkap Fakta-Fakta Kenegaraan’ on nationhood in conjunction with the Nusantara Leadership Camp 2014 here Monday.
Ahmad Shabery said he was currently monitoring the political developments in Indonesia and would visit his would-be counterpart there as well as those from Singapore, Brunei and Thailand.
He said that so far the general consensus was among media players including the journalist associations in Malaysia and Indonesia.
“We will have to look into advertisement and such … who will benefit? We can begin advertising matters which are not sensitive or profitable such as places to visit and tourism,” he said.
The Nusantara Leadership Camp 2014 was held in conjunction with the country’s 57th National Day celebrations, 51st Malaysia Day and Indonesia’s 69th Independence Day.
The fifth camp today involved 150 participants comprising university students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and southern Thailand.
Ahmad Shabery also presented a working paper on the digital era and the impact of social media at the camp.
