Business : BUDGET: RM2.7 Billion To Boost High-Speed Broadband

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) — A total of RM2.7 billion will be spent over the next three years to build 1,000 new telecommunications towers and laying of undersea cables, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when presenting Budget 2015 at the Parliament today.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the allocation aimed to increase the capacity of high-speed broadband (HSBB).

“The HSBB will continue to be implemented in areas of high economic impact, covering state capitals and selected major towns nationwide,” he said.

The budget, themed ‘Budget 2015: People Economy’, involves an expenditure of RM273.9 billion.
