Nor Mohamed, now deputy chairman of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, said the government would always ensure that ultimately the rakyat would benefit from the measures taken although some might be unpopular.
“The government is a government of the people, for the people, by the people and whatever the government does is in the long-term interest of the rakyat.
“The budget is basically one which has the people’s interest at heart,” he told reporters after launching the book, ‘Enduring Truths From Statements and Words of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, Our Beloved Bapa Malaysia’, here today.
He said the budget aimed to increase the living standards and income of the rakyat.
Meanwhile, on budget expectations, Nor Mohamed said the government was expected to carry out policies which would be good for government-linked companies.
“We have full confident the government will come up with the right policies,” he said.
