A police volunteer constable offered assistance to the Semporna district police chief over a skirmish in Kampung Sri Jaya, Simunul, on March 2 last year, the High Court in Kota Kinabalu heard today.

Thanyman Antonysamy said he decided to help as he was familiar with the water village and it was only recently that the police chief, DSP Firdaus Francis Abdullah, had been posted to Semporna.

“He (Firdaus) told me there was some shooting during an operation and that some police personnel were trapped in a bright purple house near a surau and he asked me if I could identify the location,” he said.
