#UPDATED: The Dewan Rakyat stopped its clocks right before midnight on Monday so committe stage debate on the Prevention of Terrorism Bill can continue.

The government aims to pass the bill in the lower house tonight. Debate started at noon.

The motion to stop the clock was tabled by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim and seconded Deputy Works Minister Rosnah Shirlin.

The controversial bill is strongly opposed by opposition lawmakers who say it allows for detention without trial.
