The Penang government was unable to explain clearly why it had dropped PAS' Iszuree Ibrahim from the three sub-committees in the municipal council (MPPP) without conducting an inquiry.
The council decided this in a meeting on Sept 25.
Grilled by reporters today, the chief minister's political secretary Wong Hon Wai merely said on Sept 22, Iszuree was told to clarify his remarks made at his party's recent muktamar in Johor.
"However, no immediate clarification was forthcoming. He took a week to clarify his speech," the Air Itam assemblyman said at a press conference today.
"I advised him to make the clarification in the press as he said he was misquoted by Malaysiakini," Wong added.
