General : Words Cannot Describe Feelings Over Homecoming Of MH17 Victims – Ministry Official

SEPANG, Aug 22 (Bernama) — “Words cannot describe how I feel right now”, said an official from the women, family and community development ministry after witnessing the heartbreaking homecoming of the 20 remains of victims of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 tragedy.

Having been tasked with taking care of the well-being of the family members of the victims since the tragedy in eastern Ukraine on July 17, she had established a close relationship with some of them, crying, hugging and consoling each other in difficult times.

“When the aircraft carrying the first 20 remains of the 43 Malaysians killed in the Flight MH17 taxiied on the runway, I was teary-eyed.

“Finally, they (the remains) are back. Even though the families members are sad, nevertheless they are relieved as this brings closure to the families of the victims,” she when met by Bernama at the Complex Bunga Raya, KL International Airport (KLIA), the venue for honouring the remains here Friday.

The aircraft bearing the call sign, MH6129 brought the first batch of the remains in 17 caskets and three urns when it landed at 9.54am today.

On July 17, the Boeing 777-200 aircraft crashed at Donetsk in eastern Ukraine while enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.

It was believed to have been shot down over the troubled country although no party has owned up to bringing down the aircraft.
