General : Parliament: No Compromise With Anyone Responsible For UPSR Question Leaks – Idris

Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) — The Education Ministry will not compromise with any individual involved with or was responsible for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) 2014 question leaks.

Its second minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said appropriate action would be taken against the ministry’s officers if they were involved and found guilty by the authorities of violating the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

In this regard, he said, the ministry had made two police reports for thorough investigations be carried out immediately into the cases.

“The ministry is confident that the authorities will be able to find out how the UPSR questions could be leaked or the source of the problem and take appropriate action based on the existing law.”

Idris said this in the Dewan Rakyat here Tuesday, in reply to a question from Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh (BN-Kalabakan) on whether the ministry would publicly disclose how the UPSR 2014 questions were leaked.

He said the ministry had also taken immediate drastic measures through the setting up of an independent committee to identify the weaknesses and loopholes in the managing and handling of examination question papers which could be exploited by irresponsible parties.

He added that the ministry was also revamping the placement of officers so as to strengthen the managing and handling of public examinations, as well as to tighten security at all levels of public examination management.

“The ministry is installing more closed-circuit television cameras at all its strongrooms nationwide for better security monitoring of examination question papers.

“Security briefings on managing and handling of public examination materials will also be held continually to ensure the integrity of all the parties involved,” he said.

The UPSR question leaks involved the Science, English, Mathematics and Tamil Language subjects.
