KOTA BAHARU, Sept 12 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast good weather tomorrow morning for the Tumpat area which will see nomination for the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election at the Tumpat Land and District Office in Tumpat town.
However, according to the Department’s portal, http://www.met.gov.my, thunderstorms are expected in a few places around noon.
The nomination centre is about seven kilometres from Pengkalan Kubor town.
The by-election is being held following the death of its incumbent Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar from BN due to liver cancer on Aug 20.
In teh last general election, Noor Zahidi beat PKR’s Saharun Ibrahim and independent candidate, Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary, with a majority of 1,736 votes.
Polling is on Sept 25. Barisan Nasional (BN) has named former Tumpat district assistant education officer, Mat Razi Mat Ail, 48, to defend the seat while PAS is putting up Tumpat PAS secretary Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim, 56, as its candidate.
