General : Muhyiddin Attends Rehearsal Of Ceremony Honouring Malaysian Victims Of MH17 Tragedy


SEPANG, Aug 21 (Bernama) — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin Thursday watched a full dress rehearsal of the ceremony honouring the Malaysian victims of the MH17 tragedy, at the Bunga Raya Complex at the KL International Airport (KLIA) here.

Deputy Prime Minister, who arrived at 9.45 am, attended a briefing given by Chief of Defence Forces Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.

Muhyiddin also attended briefings given by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Woman, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.

Also present were ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.

Muhyiddin spent about an hour watching the rehearsal.

The first batch of 20 remains of Malaysian victims of the tragedy are scheduled to arrive at KLIA at about 10 am tomorrow. Forty-three Malaysians died in the tragedy.

Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board. The Boeing 777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.

Besides the Malaysians, nationals from the Netherlands, Australia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, Canada and New Zealand were also on board the ill-fated aircraft.
