General : More Evacuated In Flood-Hit Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) — The number of evacuees in flood-hit Sarawak rose in the afternoon to 1,326 compared to 1,153, morning, and two relief centres were opened to accommodate the new evacuees.

A spokesman of the Sarawak National Security Council (NSC) said all the 392 families were being accommodated at eight relief centres, including the two opened Tuesday in Sibu.

The Sibu relief centres house 227 evacuees comprising 45 families from Rumah Janting and Rumah Gansau in the Selangau district. The number of evacuees in Bintulu remained at 744 from 245 families; Samarahan, 54; Mukah, 66 and Limbang, 235.

In SABAH, a spokesman of the Beaufort flood operations room said the number of evacuees in the afternoon remained at 47 from 10 families, all housed at the Membakut new hall.
