General : Floods In Johor Recede Fully, Situation Unchanged In Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 (Bernama) — The floods in Johor fully receded as of noon Thursday, with the five people at an evacuation centre in Segamat allowed to return home.

This brings the total number of victims at the evacuation centres in the flood-hit states down to 2,953 from 3,338 earlier in the morning.

In PERAK, a spokesman of the Perak National Security Council (NSC) said the number of flood victims was 1,561 compared to earlier 1,605, with 1,344 in Perak Tengah, 183 Hilir Perak and 34 Hulu Perak.

In KELANTAN, according to the Kelantan Social Welfare Department, the number of victims as at 2 pm remained at 908 people, with 878 in 14 evacuation centres in Kuala Krai and 30 more at a centre in Machang.

In PAHANG, a spokesman of the Pahang Police flood operations room said the number of victims has dropped to 446 compared to earlier in the morning 772 in two evacuation centres in Temerloh.

In SABAH, Pitas district officer Bubudan Oti Majalau said the situation has improved in Pitas with the number of victims going down to 38 compared to 48 morning, with all expected to return home by the afternoon.
