General : Dewan Rakyat: RM11 Billion For Infrastructure Projects In Sabah Since 8MP

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) — The Rural and Regional Development Ministry has allocated RM11.115 billion for infrastructure projects in Sabah since the 8th Malaysia Plan (8MP).

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said an additional RM14.6 million was allocated for the development of human capital, particularly for rural communities in Sabah for the 2012-2014 period.

“It involves training under the ministry including in Mara, Felcra and Risda which enhances the people’s abilities.

“As a result, we find that rural communities including the indigenous people have secured jobs with incomes of RM4,000 to RM6,000 a month,” he said in reply to a question from Datuk Juslie Ajirol (BN-Libaran) in the Dewan Rakyat, here, today.

Mohd Shafie also noted that as many as 274 projects involving an allocation of RM149.48 million had been and were being implemented in the Libaran parliamentary constituency since the 8MP until now.

He said a RM87.3 million Mara Junior Science College and a RM3.1 million Giatmara centre had been built for the benefit of the local community.
