General : Chinese MH370 Official Website Accessible In China

BEIJING, Jan 27 (Bernama) — Access to the Chinese version of the MH370 official website, www.mh370.gov.my is now available in China to get the right and reliable information on the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370.

With the support and cooperation given by the Chinese government, the website, where information is all in Chinese, could be accessed in the country, said Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Jailani Johari.

“All information is in Chinese, including the up-to-date search and rescue information, news etc,” he said, adding the next-of-kin would be able to raise their questions at the “next-of-kin” column specially dedicated for them.

The website had been launched in October last year in both English and Chinese versions, however, none of the Chinese families of the passengers onboard were aware of the existence of the website, he told Malaysian journalists here, Tuesday.

Jailani hoped with the announcement of the existence of the website, Chinese nationals, especially the next-of-kin of the affected passengers on board would be able to obtain the information.

Besides updating the latest information on the search of the aircraft, the official site also provided flight manifest, contact information and the media news.

He pointed out that the Chinese government had reiterated its commitment to continue providing support and assistance to the search of the missing flight, as well as to ensure the welfare of the next-of-kin of the affected passengers.

A delegation led by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai arrived here on Sunday to attend meetings with vice-minister of China’s transport ministry, as well as the vice-minister of Chinese foreign ministry.

The delegation members included Deputy Minister of Defence Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Director-General of the Department Of Civil Aviation Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, as well as newly appointed Malaysian ambassador to China Datuk Zainuddin Yahya.

The MH370 Boeing 777-200ER aircraft carrying 239 passengers, mostly Chinese, and crew members, disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8. It is believed to have ended in the Indian Ocean.
