General : Bodies Of 3 Bangladeshis Killed At MRT Work Site Accident To Be Flown Home Tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) — The bodies of three Bangladeshi construction workers killed when a concrete span at the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) work site in Sungai Buloh fell on them on Monday night, will be flown back to their country Thursday.

MRT Corp director of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, Amir Mahmood Razak said the next of kin and family members of the victims had been contacted and would be waiting for the arrival of the bodies.

“The bodies will be flown to Bangadesh tomorrow morning once we get the permission to do so from the Bangladesh High Commission here,” he said when contacted by Bernama Wednesday.

In the 8.30pm incident on Monday, the 650-tonne concrete span collapsed, pinning the three foreign workers underneath at the MRT work site, near the Rubber Research Institute in Sungai Buloh.

The victims were identified as Mohamad Faruk Khan, Mohammad Elahi Hossain and Mohammad Alauddin Mollik.

Amir Mahmood said the MRT Corp management held a “tahlil” for the three deceased last night and would perform “solat jenazah ghaib” (prayers in the absence of the dead) tomorrow at the MRT construction workers’ quarters, near the location of the tragic incident.

“The MRT Corp management has been given a week by the Land Public Transport Commission to complete the investigation into the incident while investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Department are also probing into the cause of the mishap,” he said.
