General : 45 Cases Of Illegal Garbage Dumping Nationwide Until Last Sept


SEREMBAN, Oct 2 (Bernama) – Forty-five cases of illegal garbage dumping were recorded nationwide between January and September this year, said the chief executive officer of Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (PPSPPA), Datuk Ab Rahim Md Noor.

He said Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest number of cases with 25, Johor and Kuala Lumpur had nine cases each, while Melaka and Kedah each had one case.

He said the cases were in the investigation stage and would depend on the decision of the public prosecutor.

“So far, 45 cases have been recorded whereas in Negeri Sembilan alone, there were 20 cases. Several cases on illegal garbage dumping are still being investigated and three cases had been filed in court, one case had been convicted and two others are still being tried.

“The matter depends on the public prosecutor. If there is permission for prosecution, we will carry out further investigation,” he told reporters after officiating the motivational briefing for SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM) operation officers, here Thursday.

Also present were SWM Chief Operations Officer Ho De Leong, SWM Group General Manager, Adnan Ibrahim and Negeri Sembilan PPSPPA Director Mohd Azhar Abd Hamid.

Meanwhile, he said the PPSPPA would continue to implement several measures and approaches as an agenda to transform the people in the country to achieve a higher level of cleanliness at the international stage.
