Business : MAS Most Active Stock In Early Trade

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) — Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS), which will mark its last trading on the Main Market today, was the most active stock in early trade.

At 10.20 am, the national airline’s shares were half-a-sen lower at 26.5 sen with 44.676 million lots changing hands.

MAS opened at 26.5 sen against 27 sen registered at yesterday’s close.

The counter will be suspended at 9 am on Dec 15, 2014, to execute the company’s selective capital reduction and repayment exercise (SCR).

“Under the SCR, ordinary shareholders of MAS, other than Khazanah Nasional Bhd, whose names appear on the company’s record of depositors as at 5 pm on Dec 19, shall be entitled to receive a cash amount of 27 sen for each MAS share,” said MAS in a filing to the local bourse on Dec 4.

MAS said the capital repayment was expected to be made within 10 days from the entitlement date.

Trading of MAS shares will continue to be suspended until the completion of the SCR and the subsequent delisting of MAS from the official list of Bursa Malaysia, it added.
