General : Nine Aircraft Parking Bays In Klia2 To Be Temporarily Closed Until Sunday

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) — Nine aircraft parking bays at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) have been temporarily closed due to a pressure drop in their jet fuelling system. Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB) has been advised by the Kuala Lumpur Aviation Fuelling system (KAFS) about the matter thus prompting the decision on the temporary closure from yesterday (Wednesday) estimated until midnight Sunday. “As an airport operator that considers airport and passenger safety a matter of priority, Malaysia Airports views this matter seriously. “While there is no immediate cause for concern, this measure is taken as a safety precaution as well as to allow KAFS to perform a thorough check,” said MAHB in a statement. MAHB did not anticipate any major disruption to airport operations as the terminal has sufficient parking bays for airlines to use. “Malaysia Airports will continue to work closely with all affected stakeholders to ensure passengers will not be inconvenienced,” it said.

As part of its operating procedure, Malaysia Airports has also informed the Department of Environment (DOE) about the matter. The statement said Malaysia Airports would be guided by KAFS in facilitating any possible repair work. — BERNAMA
